I'm in no way, shape, or form a mountain bike guy. I bought the bike to do "some" trail and go around the neighborhoods in Virginia Beach. I'm a Harley rider and experienced metal worker. If you are looking for quality and a very WELL made bike, look no further!
I recently decided to switch to a 2015 rockhopper from a hardrock and must say I am very happy with my decision. I love my hardrock but my rockhopper climbs better, shifts better, stops better, and I am just all around more comfortable and faster on it. I will say that the pedals it came with were a joke but that's my only complaint.
This has been my final choice after more than a month of checking entry level bike reviews and visiting local bike stores. It's not about the reviews that made me like it. It was it's simplicity and frame and build that made me like it the first time I saw it at a LBS. 29ers are just awesome for beginners just like me, gives me the confidence to jump off obstacles and roll over things. Love it! Tried it off road and like it even more. Could have had a Shimano Deore group set with the price but the trade off is worth it. Also, heard that not too many have this bike in our country. I'm highly recommending it.
My first Specialized bike and I love it. The style and the weight fits me perfect. For x-country or rail trails or single track, works great. I did upgrade the chain, pedals, chain rings setup a 2 chain ring with bashguard and brake pads. Not that impressed with the brakes, so they will be upgraded soon.
I bought this bike like 2 weeks ago and I have to say that I'm so satisfied with the product. I've driving it for almost 250 km in different terrains like paviment, ground and rocks and the performance of every single component is incredible superior than the other ones. The hydraulic disc brakes are so safety and effective and the SR Suntour suspenssion has a good performance. The Shimano Alivio 9-speed rear derailleurIn and the shifters are awesome, the power transfer is so good! In this bike everything is the best. Good Job Specialized!
I'd say everything about this bike is great except for the rear derailleur. Putting too much force down at once sometimes make the chain pop out of place. But beyond that it's a great bike. Definitely worth the money and a good beginner-mid level bike.
my first bike in 35 years....got it for exercise (which I hate) but after working off some fat, I got to enjoying the ride... handles mud, sand and is smooth on paved surfaces...I shopped around and the bike gave the most for the money of anything I looked at, and it delivered more in fun and performance than I was expecting
this bike is a great bike for you people that are intermediate.I love the great specs it has. When i mountain bike i feel like boss. I always beat my friends going up and down. I would recommend this bike to any won. Since i got this bike i have been much better and faster.
This bike has surpassed my expectations. I have never had a mountain bike and have not ridden a bike in years, but a few friends of mine talked me into buying a bike and going out with them. I did not want to spend the thousands of dollars that they had on a bike, but did not want to but a cheap bike that would not last, so I did some looking around and talking and went with the RockHopper this bike has my friends in amazement due to it is able to withstand the abuse I put it through trying to keep up with them. It shifts smooth and stops fast all the components work better than I expected. I would recommend this bike to anyone.
I have had this bike for almost 3 months and I love it. All I have done was change the pedals.
