Got this for my 11-year-old for mountain bike and cyclocross racing. He loves the fit and the style.

Phenomenal helmet developed and manufactured by the best in the business. There's no annoying shimmying when you put this helmet on. It's got adjustments that make the fit very personal for your noggin and ends up being quite comfortable. Plenty of airflow gets through as well. No issues overheating here. Also, when the Overtake helmet is paired with the Attack or Attack Max performance sunglasses, the sunglasses fit perfectly in the lines of the helmet as secure storage if you don't need them, but don't want them in your pocket. I'm very pleased with this product.

Back in August, while out on my bike and, as usual, wearing my Overtake MIPS Helmet I was hit side-on by a van travelling at about 25-30 mph. The impact of the hit resulted in multiple breaks to my pelvis and ribs. I remember landing, some distance away, on my head and shoulder - my shoulder blade ended up broken with multiple fractures - hearing the helmet scraping along the road and watching the road surface pass near my face. The resultant damage to the helmet at first didn't look too much - but if the impact damage and, in particular, the scraping damage to the outer core had been my skull instead I would not be typing this now. Even if I had been wearing a "normal" helmet I think I would have experienced potentially significant head injury. As it was, I wasn't knocked out and didn't even suffer a headache. Am now trying to decide what colour my replacement will be :o)

Good fit, style and top-rated protection for the brain case. I like the visibility of it, too.

This helmets sun glass holding system is horrible. I was riding on a perfectly smooth road with my attack max shades secured upside down in the channels as instructed and my glasses fell out and got smashed. For a sunglasses company I expected smith to put some thought in to securing sunglasses on their helmets but They clearly have abandoned this basic feature so they could make helmets using a thousand straws that do nothing.

Five rides in with this helmet, and I can honestly say that is feels better than any helmet I have owned. It is extremely lightweight, well-ventilated, and doesn't shift around even half an inch on my head. The aero design is aggressive enough for any racer or serious rider. I also own the PivLock Arena sunglasses and love how you can attach your glasses into the helmet without worrying about them falling out. I have yet to be disappointed with any Smith product - quality every time!

Helmet is very light and comfortable. The helmet feels very secure on my head and I have a high degree of confidence that it would provide good protection if ever needed. I did a long climb on my first ride and two small negatives. 1. With the "honey comb" construction, the helmet was very warm and not as well ventilated as I'm used to, I guess this is the tradeoff for better safety. 2. The helmet seems "noisy" at higher speeds and while descending, again maybe because of the construction or possibly the shape. Overall the helmet is very nice and look forward to lots of miles in it.

After receiving this helmet I measured my head several times just to make sure it isn't too small (i ordered the large) but sure enough its the right size. It seems to be unusually high on my head and i have to struggle to pull it down to be even halfway down my forehead and still a good distance from my ears. The strap system is also sort of lacking from previous helmets I've used including Rudy project- the rear straps have a lot of movement and it takes some adjusting every time you throw it on your head- not as quick and readily fit as other helmets.

I had a bad crash 4/19/17 and slid on wet sand around a sharp corner. I took out my right side with 3 broken bones in my hip/pelvic, 2 broken ribs and rotator cuff injury. I hit my head and had 0 damage and no concussion. After 4 days in the hospital and 3 months of physical therapy, I am almost 100%. I got back on my bike fairly quickly and off on a 1 month bike trip across Europe! Thank you Smith and for my 30% crash rebate to buy a new helmet, now with MIPS... I love the crazy, fun new colorful Matte BSF helmet. I stand out and get tons of compliments! RIDE ON!!!

I have worn Smith helmets for a while for skiing and cycling - absolutely best fit for my head - and bought the Overtake last year when upgrading to MIPS. Took a hard crash last week, and despite some dents in the helmet and 3 broken ribs, my head was totally intact. MIPS shifted exactly as designed, too. Thank you, Smith!
